Flu Shots Winter 2023-2024

Flu Shot

We recommend you get your flu shot to get maximum protection for the upcoming flu season, for you and your entire family.

**Flu Shots are now in, see below.

On average in Canada, the chance of developing Influenza in any given year is one in six. Although many consider influenza to be a minor illness, in fact in high risk individuals (those over 65 years of age, diabetics, patients with asthma, chronic lung disease, immune system suppression or cancer), it may be a life threatening problem. Flu vaccine is offered to all residents of Ontario, over 6 months of age.

The flu shot is:

  • safe (including for kids and if you are pregnant or breastfeeding)
  • free
  • available from your doctor or nurse practitioner, and at participating pharmacies and local public health units across the province
  • proven to reduce the number of doctor visits, hospitalizations and deaths related to the flu
  • different each year because the virus changes frequently – so you need to get it every fall

Individuals aged five and over may receive a flu shot at the same time as, or at any time before or after a COVID-19 vaccine. **Children between six months and under five years are recommended to wait 14 days before or after the administration of another vaccine before getting their flu shot.

Book your flu shot appointment online conveniently with your health card ready, or call our office during regular office hours at 905-889-3634. You can request to come along with other household members if they are also patients with us. If you have an upcoming appointment with your doctor, you can also have your flu shot at your appointment – just let our staff know when you arrive.

Keep checking our flu shot bookings as we add more dates weekly.

Here are some notes for the day of your Flu Shot clinic appointment, please read:

** Do not come if you have any new symptoms of possible COVID illness or any other respiratory illness.

Wear clothing that allows easy access to your shoulder (short sleeved shirt, sleeveless shirt). Check in with Reception with your updated health card. If you have booked appointments to come with other household members, you may all come at the same time.

If you have an upcoming appointment with your doctor, you can also ask for your flu shot then. Please book an appointment with our nurse if you have other injections you would like to receive at the same time.

We do not have the COVID vaccine at our office.

If you have already received your flu shot, please let us know!
